Pacers Owner Could Have Sworn He Cut Tobias Harris 3 Years Ago

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Pacers owner Kid Monotone did a double-take when passing the practice facility weight room and catching a glimpse of forward Tobias Harris doing dumbbell presses.

"I was absolutely shocked," Monotone said in an exclusive interview with NBN Today. "I spit out my green drink and got it all over my Lacoste polo."

Despite being a regular visitor at the facility, the longtime owner said he had no idea Tobias Harris was still on his team.

"I mean, we've dropped out of the playoffs early year after year," he lamented, exasperated. "Do you think I've been willingly paying Tobias Harris a max contract this whole time??"

According to Monotone, he made the decision to void Harris's contract back in 2021, mere months after acquiring the forward from the Kings.

"He's an absolute scrub. You see it here, you see it in the NBA. He shouldn't sniff playing time on a team that wants to make a playoff push. I swear to God I cut that [expletive] in December 2021."

"I do stats, so I should know who's on my team," he lied.

Monotone eventually admitted that he may have believed Harris to be the "guy who cleans the showers" for the past three years.

Harris, on his part, claims to be a beloved member of the Pacers family.

"Oh yeah, Jacob and I go way back," he gushed in a post-game interview late last season. "He's been there for me ever since he traded for me in 2021 and what's more, he looks out for my family," he added, referencing the lucrative contract extension he signed with the Pacers.

Harris has appeared in 259 games with the Pacers in the past three years and is the second-leading points scorer all-time for the franchise.

NBN Trade Deadline Grades by NotChris

This year’s trade deadline failed to reach the heights of its IRL counterpart, but how could it? That’s like comparing Beyonce to a 35-year-old soccer mom. Sure, soccer moms can be fun and a little wild. But it’s Beyonce , man.  There were some big names moved, but teams improved around the margins more than anything at the deadline. Many bigger moves were made much earlier in the year. Here, I will focus on breaking down the deadline-adjacent trades, starting with… Trade 59: WAS receives: Khris Middleton, Victor Oladipo, Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2026 LAC 2nd MIL receives: James Harden Milwaukee: A- This deal makes a ton of sense for Milwaukee. They’re a middling team at the moment, sitting a hair above the play-in. They have been relying way too much on Oladipo for years and were playing him out of position at point guard. Replacing him with Harden (an actual PG) should do wonders for the Milwaukee offense.  Harden obviously isn’t the player he once was. However, he is still a gr...

Not Chris 2025 NBN Mock Draft

Welcome to my 2025 NBN Mock Draft, which will definitely be outdated by the time I publish it! Not projecting any trades because teams are crazy and too hard to predict. TLDR at bottom.  1. Houston Rockets - Cooper Flagg, F, Duke No brainer here. Flagg is by far the best player in this draft, and one of the best prospects we’ve seen in the last 10 years. Houston’s tank paid off, and they get a do-it-all forward with a Jordan-esque competitive drive to build around.  2. Charlotte Hornets - Dylan Harper, G, Rutgers Charlotte pulled a stunner earlier this week, trading picks 5, 6, and Zach Edey to Dallas for the #2 pick, where they will likely select Dylan Harper. Harper is a 6’6 intelligent guard with All-Star upside. He will pair nicely with Paolo Banchero as another dynamic playmaker with scoring punch, this time with more shooting upside. This move signals Charlotte’s intent to move off All-Star LaMelo Ball (who they sneakily gave up a lot for; Stephon Castle, Nik...

Stats Power Rankings 2/24

Curry and Tatum push their teams to new heights.  These are changes since 11/24. Notables * The Nets remain at the top of the power rankings, despite making no notable moves at the trade deadline. Are they right to sit on their laurels?  * The Sixers and, to a lesser extent, the Grizzlies have made jumps up the power rankings, thanks to the acquisitions of Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum. Can they dethrone some of the more entrenched contenders in their respective conferences? Full power rankings are below.  Format: Team (Record) [Change since last PR on 11/24] Brooklyn Nets (42-15)                        [0] Utah Jazz (40-17)                               [+1] Philadelphia 76ers (40-17)                 [+11] Phoenix Suns (41-16)              ...
